What's worse: falsely charging a father for molesting his child or suing people who made the charge?

What is worse: To knowingly make false charges against an innocent man for molesting his 3 year old daughter to police/DHS/Hospitol/ friends and family OR; Is it worse to take this person to court and sue for defamation, libel, plagurisn, mental distress etc... I have proof that this person has retracted his/her statement, So to run the works? Taking all their money, maybe they face jai to community service. What is wiorse?
