What things/ terms/ laws must i need to know in order to represent myself in this case?

Postby kyledyr » Fri Mar 16, 2012 3:22 am

My ex boyfriend has simple assault, aggrivated assault, terroristic threat, harrassment, and out of county bench warrant. The cops were called and seen damaged property and left. I didn't want to tell them he assaulted me. After they left I went to the hospital to make sure I was okay. My father called the cops without me knowing and that's when all the marks started showing up on my body. They took pictures and was told what happened. my father who was not there also said things that somehow ended up in my statement. I received a supenoa in the mail and a phone call. I do not wish to speak in court. I did not put a pfa or press charges on him. He does not have a history of violence or anger. I will be pleading the fifth. Ididn't feel threatened. What MUST I state for least trouble apon both of us? I didn't temp him by saying go ahead, hit me if that'll make you feel better. I want to get him out of this though I am the plaintiff. I did not choose this. What things/ terms/ laws should I be aware of and need to know for this case. What could I expect thrown my way by his lawyer? What must I need to know in this case?

so you getting slapped by him is part of your normal daily life ???

They are pressing charges period, you can be a hostile witness but pretty sure they are going to be able to slap him with the terroistic threats without your help.......either way you loving kind bf that happens to slap the snot out of you hard enough to leave marks and have you go to the ER to be checked out WILL be going away for some period of time.
