There are several places to purchase Office 2003 at a reduced price... First, if your a student, you can get software from many places using your student ID. I know I have been able to get a FULL Microsoft Office Professional through my school for $130. Thats HUNDREDS of dollars less then buying it in the store. Second, if you have family or friends that get discounts through their job, will be worth checking it out. I know most major companies have an EPP(employee purchace Plan) that gives various discounts. Third, you can check the internet, which could take some time. You have to be careful you also purchase from a good company. Some companies might have great prices, but not give you an activation code, or they are in a different language, or for new computers with special install details. To get good deals, companies often sell the software, but also include something like a mouse or keyboard. These are to satisfy their agreement with Microsoft, to include the cheaper price, along with hardware, ment to be a PC, but anything qualifies. Here is the disclaimer: Qualifying proof of purchase must be recent receipts showing the purchase of a mother board, hard drive, RAM and a CPU. The components can be on multiple receipts; not necessarily all on one receipt nor on the same receipt as the qualifying Windows XP/Office 2003 that you purchased. Here are some links to places selling what you want, with different prices. Microsoft Office Student and Teacher Edition 2003 [Old Version] $125.00 (www.amazon.com) $132.00 OEM Microsoft Office 2003 Professional Full version $79.95 Be sure to check out OEM software. OEM stands for "original equipment manufacturer" and OEM software is a phrase that refers to software that is sold to computer builders and hardware manufacturers(OEMs) in large quantities, for the purpose of bundling with computer hardware. The third-party software that comes with your digital camera, graphics tablet, printer or scanner is an example of OEM software. In many cases, this bundled software is an older version of a program that is also sold on its own as a stand alone product. Sometimes it is a feature-limited version of the retail software, often dubbed as a "special edition"(SE) or "limited edition"(LE). The purpose is to give users of the new product software to work with out of the box, but also to tempt them to purchase the current or fully-functional version of the software. Hope this helps.
