Where In Nc Can We Get A Good View Of The Smokey Mountains

We are planning a family vacation more than the Chrismas holidays to the Smokey Mountains in NC. Exactly where is a central city to get a very good view? It doesn't have to be touristy as we plan to take a few drives and go to other locations. We are generally looking for a great central location in NC.

Anywhere in Swain County or Haywood County in North Carolina.

Angel:   There are not many "Cities" very close to the Great Smokey Mountain National Park. In North Carolina, some options are Robbinsonville, Waynesville, or Maggie Valley - all very close.   To the north of the park, you have more Touristy towns such as Pidgeon Forge, and Gatlinburg. Both are very nice - a little closer with many option for a place to stay.   I like Robbinsonville NC. It's a small town no to far from the Park, and also very close the the Cherohala Parkway(A great drive - Highly recommended).   Although Christmas is past, I hope you found a good place.
