Angel: There are not many "Cities" very close to the Great Smokey Mountain National Park. In North Carolina, some options are Robbinsonville, Waynesville, or Maggie Valley - all very close. To the north of the park, you have more Touristy towns such as Pidgeon Forge, and Gatlinburg. Both are very nice - a little closer with many option for a place to stay. I like Robbinsonville NC. It's a small town no to far from the Park, and also very close the the Cherohala Parkway(A great drive - Highly recommended). Although Christmas is past, I hope you found a good place. If(when) you go again, be sure to stop at Klingmans Dome. More about the Smokies is at http://www.sightseeingreview.com/greatsmokymountainnationalpark.php I hope that helps!!
