Which pocket knife is best for me?

I just need one to whip out when I have to protect myself, and to occasionally peel fruit (so I guess it needs a serrated edge). I don't need anything fancy and I can spend up to 10 bucks. These 2 on Amazon have caught my eye. Since I know very little about knives, I turn to you! Which best fits my needs?

If you need to protect yourself, look into a canister of bear spray, $46. The mere appearance of a canister on your waist holster may have a deterrent effect. I always notice when hikers are carrying. You will never have time to dig around for a pocket knife for self-defense. A fixed-blade or assisted knife is an assault knife. However, if you "know very little about knives," then you will never be able to use one for self-defense when you are in a state of panic. In the wilderness, I carry a Victorinox Climber that has been very effective as my multi-purpose utility knife, $30.

If you want something to defend yourself, get something better because I wouldn't put snapping in half past these two knives. You don't need a serrated edge to peel fruit at all, just a sharp knife which these surely wouldn't be. You need to buy something quality if you want to trust your life with it.
