Why do humans kill so many animals?

i agree with all you say, but it not really about animals

My wife is a devout Buddhist, and is against killing, period. I'm a vegetarian and an animal lover. We both could see the reasoning behind the decision to kill all of those animals. It was getting dark and the animals were powerful and fast predators. I'm angry that that guy was allowed to keep those beautiful animals in captivity, and of course I'm sad about that terrible tragedy of the slaughter of the animals. It was a gutsy decision by the sheriff, and now his life is probably a living hell because of angry people who hate his guts. He was thinking about saving human lives, and that's it. As much as I love animals, I have to go along with the sheriff.

I think it's terrible to have to kill animals to eat. That being said, I'm an avid hiker and backpacker and we have to learn basic survival skills should the worst happen. So when it gets down to basic survival, humans can't sustain themselves permanently on the miniscule proteins that plants provide. We have to eat meat to live. And when we all get hungry enough, we start looking to animals as a source of food. That's just nature. So I think we should kill only what we need to live. Nothing more. It's a tragedy that we need to do this, but every time we eat, something has to die.
