Why is Pakistan allowed nuclear weapons and not Iran?

Postby collyer » Wed Oct 26, 2011 7:53 am

The two seem almost identical to me. Both fund terrorism (Pakistan funds the Afghan Taliban, Iran funds Hezbollah). Neither of them are on good terms with their neighbouring countries. Both are Islamic Republics. Pakistan even found to be sheltering both Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and Osama Bin Laden so it could be argued Pakistan is worse.

Both of them try to impose Islamic law (Sharia) on other countries. Iran ordered for an author in another country to be killed (Salman Rushdie) for committing the "crime" of blasphemy.

Nearly every year since 1999 Pakistan has brought forward and passed a resolution on "Defamation of Islam" or "Defamation of religion" to the UNHRC on behalf of the OIC (Organisation of the Islamic Conference). Pakistan and Iran were both countries that along with other member countries from the OIC called on the Danish prime minister to prosecute the newspaper that published the cartoons of Muhammad in 2005.

Why is Pakistan allowed nuclear weapons and not Iran?

Postby otis » Wed Oct 26, 2011 8:04 am

Well the whole question has a bias to it. What country should be allowed to tell Pakistan not to have nuclear weapons? Why is America allowed nuclear weapons when they are the only country to have used them on civilians? Why is america allowed to have them when they have killed more innocent people than most any other country?

Pakistan developed nuclear weapons in response to india developing nuclear weapons because the countries are rivals. Pakistan lives in a dangerous part of the world. they are bordered by india, china, use to be a neighbour of russia, afghanistan and iran.

The only reason why Iran doesn't have nukes is because there scientist have been unable to replicate the technology. In the case of pakistan they were able to send their scientist abroad and call them back and one stole plans from a dutch nuclear plant and they were able to learn how to enrich uranianium.

It is a bit poltical to say pakistan was sheltering osama or khalid because these guys were in hiding and pakistan has co-operated with us terrorism fight.

However america has a policy of anti-iranian stance because they have opposed the ayatollah because Iran can take over the entire northern half of the middle east if left alone. shitte islam is centred in iran. Syria, iraq, bahrain, qatar, uae are basically shi'ite muslim countries. If Iran is left alone they will take over the entire middle east, which is why britain purposely broke these countries up in the end of colonialism. It is also why israel is america's ally, they need a country near by to fight their war.

The only reason Iran has not got nukes is it has not been able to finish its Bomb. No one "allows" a country to get nukes. Any country can get nukes that has the technology and wants to pay the political price.
