Why is this guy SO Weird and Confusing ?

Hes really starting to confuse me with his actions.....
When we have an oppertunity to work as a group in class, and when we end up being in the same group..... he starts giving me mixed signals...

like he usually gets himself to stand right next to me (2/2 times) and stand next to me the entire period of class but then he wont talk, he wont do anything significant....... and the first time he talked to me for the first time by asking me my opinion and that was nice, and tried to crack a joke, but the second time he just stood next to me and didnt do anything.. then we ended up moving to a different spot to stand and we just..... parted out separate ways and sat down not next to one another but in front of one another and he just didnt even talk, didnt even look at me...... it was so weird.... but a few minutes before he ran to stand right next to me? wtf is up with this guy?
