Will a Romanian speeding ticket add points to my American insurance?

Postby chiram97 » Wed Dec 14, 2011 12:03 pm

While driving in Romania today I got a speeding ticket ( 50kph in a 30 kph zone) I dont mind paying the fine, I just want to know if it will add points to my insurance in the U.S. or effect my drivers license. Anybody? Thanks!

No, the Romanian authorities have no way of adding the ticket info to your USA driving record (the way the police & courts in the USA would if you got a ticket in another state). Just pay the fine and it goes away.

The second answer got a thumb down but the advice was absolutely correct. As I also said, pay the fine. Don't ignore it as the unexpected consequences could be extreme.

probably not but if you don't pay the fine, it will probably effect your chances of visiting Romania again and or they may contact the US Embassy and they will contact you about the fine.
I live in Hungary and see many tourists think they can get away with breaking the rules and don't think it will catch up to them.
