Will an apartment accept a cosigner with past bankruptcy?

Postby mace » Wed Apr 11, 2012 1:48 am

My husband and I recently applied for an apartment that is close to his work, and it is the only one in that area I could find that we can afford.. When we applied, the lady that works at the apartment complex told us that they are very flexible with credit because they have accepted people with bankruptcies and foreclosures.. However for some reason we still got denied even though we make enough. Anyway, the apartment manager called me and said that they will let us move in if we have a cosigner that makes at least 35,000 a year and has really good credit.. Well, my father in law offered to cosign for us. He makes 37,000 a year but he filed for 2 bankruptcies about 4 years ago. He said other than that he has good credit and pays bills on time.. Do you think they will accept him as a cosigner or no?
