Would my arrest affect me in the future? After 5 years or so ?

Postby jerrick » Thu Jul 19, 2012 10:36 am

So I was arrested for drinking and driving back in June 29th 2011 , honestly I don't drink alcohol , maybe once a year depending on who I have in my house or where I am at, so I was invited at a birthday party and was asked to drive one of the friends home after the party ,because she didnt have a vehicle at that time, so I dropped her safely and on my way back got arrested , I deserve it but I am very worried of what is going to happen , my probation will be over this month , I respect the law and I have nothing in my record but that , So if I am not convicted after probation is done is it going to have a big impact on me? I have read too much online , which I think most of it was useless .
Please be polite while answering
Thanks a lot

Only if your a white working class guy or gal. Face it, with all these liberal judges in power the deck is stacked against the majority.

You were convicted, your sentence was parole, probably because nothing bad happened like a wreck or people were hurt and your judge was lenient because you were a first-timer.
You have to put that in at every job application that asks 'were you ever arrested" granted you didn't get jail time and it was a first offense.
So no as the years go by it won't be anything to your employer after 5 years and
nothing else is added. A lot of people do one thing and they learn there lesson so just don't ever DUI again.
Its a lesson learned.

Better talk to your lawyer, or A lawyer(if you had a public defender you should talk to someone else as they are likely going to be overloaded with work for this to work as well) and make SURE your record is cleared if it is supposed to be. Sometimes these things that should go away after the probation get lost in the shuffle. Thing is that your arrest will still be on your record, and in most(if not all) States the DUI would stay on your driving record if that was the conviction. This can very easily affect you in the future. On the bright side for you if the economy gets better and it's a not driving job then as you get older and keep clean this won't be AS bad. If it was a DUI though don't expect a job that wants drivers to take you though.
