Wrongful Termination

Postby quincey » Fri Jun 27, 2014 3:09 pm

I was a contractor for government and they laid me off March the 2011 because purposively they lost funding, but 2 weeks later filled the same position with same title, in same department and under same contract number. This is also after i made official complaint to HR at my company for a hostile work environment, and i was 7 months pregnant. I was re-placed with someone who had no physical in-ability to perform and after "whistle blowing". Isn't what they did ILLEGAL in more then one way. And yes i have documentation i kept to prove it.

Wrongful Termination

Postby Haydn » Sun Jul 13, 2014 12:34 am

April - You need to be in touch with the U. S. Department of Labor, specifically with the Office of Federal Contract Compliance.  There are rules contractors have to follow when working with federal dollars.  If your former employer has violated those rules, that is the office that can investigate for you.  You might also consider filing a complaint against the employer with the Equal Employment Opportunities Commission.  Find out from them if you have to go to the local Human Relations Office or similar agency before formally filing with them.  Sometimes there is a first step that has to be taken, that results in a "right to sue" letter.

Congratulations on the baby.  Good luck.
