Am I a Liberal or a Conservative?

Postby bearchan » Mon Apr 30, 2012 9:18 am

In politics, here's what I care about and for:

Here are my liberal views:
Stem cell research; therefore pro choice.
Green energy and green technology.
Support science and science education.
Separate religion from science and government.
Gay marriage

Here's my conservative views:
We should have immigration laws
Tax the hell out of marijuana.
We should still police the world.

Here's who I hate:
Religious fanatics
Poor helpless lazy people
Feminists

To be honest, I don't think it quite matters how you label yourself. You found your own views without stopping first to think about which side of the aisle they came from. Most of today's voters find a label (i.e. liberal or conservative) and adhere so strongly to that label's ideology that they stop thinking for themselves.
That being said, it sounds like you're a moderate (maybe leaning slightly to the left). You are the kind of person who decides the outcomes of elections by actually listening to what each politician has to say before deciding who you will vote for, rather than simply picking one because he has a D or an R after his name.
As time goes on and we face disaster after disaster, more and more people are breaking their party ranks and shifting toward the center of the political spectrum, which is where you seem to be. Many people will try to say that whether you're a liberal or a conservative does matter in politics, but quite honestly, it doesn't. What matters is that you think for yourself and are able to form your own opinions, regardless of what either political party tells you to think.

Am I a Liberal or a Conservative?

You'd probably be centre liberal. It's important to remember that political classifications are actually more complicated than "conservative" and "liberal"- there is actually a whole spectrum of different views (both sides are often guilty of attacking the very extreme aspects of the opposing side and citing that as a legitimate attack on the entire opposite side of the spectrum). So yeah, you're probably more liberal than conservative, but towards the centre of the spectrum.

A lot of classification systems actually use 2 indicators- social views and economic views. For instance, many traditional liberals believe in comparatively limited social regulation, but strong economic regulation, and so forth.

You conservative views broken down....

We already HAVE immigration laws, they are just not followed as well as they should be.

Tax drugs? Marijuana is a gateway drug, should stay illegal.

Police the world? Most conservatives say we should mind our own business! Screw George W. Bush, he was NOT a conservative!

You are obviously liberal on social issues. How about economic issues?

Anyways, since you are a liberal on social issues, how can you hate feminists and poor helpless lazy people? These are the very people you should be helping with our tax dollars, assuming you are a liberal You seem like a very confused individual.
