Ativan and probation drug test...?

Postby delton » Mon Dec 19, 2011 1:10 pm

I took two of my boyfriend's .5mg Ativan pills for anxiety two days. This happened to be a day or two before my drug test for probation. I wasn't abusing the pills so I thought nothing of it. Then, after taking my drug test on Monday (May 9th), I discovered that it is against the law to take someone else's medication. I guess I should have known that, but I honestly did not. I immediately made an appointment with a psychiatrist. My appointment was today (May 11th) and my doctor just happened to prescribe Ativan to me without me even mentioning that I had taken it before. If the Ativan shows up on my drug test, what are the odds of it being considered a violation of a probation considering 1) I didn't realize I was doing anything wrong and 2) as soon as I knew discovered it was wrong I got my own prescription for it? I'm a little scared right of dropping dirty and facing a violation or another charge for something I didn't know was wrong. Any advice or knowledge you can share with me?

Ativan and probation drug test...?

1] NEVER take anyone else's prescription
2] taking other people's drug technically IS abuse, and illegal
3] if the Ativan shows up, better have that prescription bottle with you - and hope your probation officer isn't good about checking dates
4] re-read all your probation instructions
5] next drug test, bring any and all precriptions with you - list to officer in charge of drug screens

Ativan and probation drug test...?

Well you lucked out. By your doctor prescribing you Ativan this will be your way of getting out of any probation violation because you now have a valid legal prescription for the medication. At your next visit don't mention it first let them mention it to you and once they inquire about the medication that's if the do then present your prescription or the pill bottle. Good Luck.
