When you are on probation for shoplifting can they drug test you in Michigan?

First time getting in trouble with the law. Will the judge asked about drugs? If I'm put on probation and have to go to a probation officer will they drug test me? If not, what happens?

they can, but it's unlikely if no one suspects you of having been high or intoxicated when you committed the crime. some parents ask for drug testing during a probation time. but if no one suspects you of those offenses, they may not force you to have the tests. however, stay clean and sober until you're sure. you'll find out everything at your hearing. the judge may or may not ask about drugs but be truthful if he/she does. by the way, a similar incident happened with a family member of mine and we live in michigan. crazy coincidence. she hasn't had her hearings yet.

Yes.

Probation officers can test anyone on probation for drugs. Shoplifting and drugs go together, so it's very likely you'll get tested. When you test positive, that will be considered a violation of your probation. You might even spend a few days in jail. Your probation will be extended, and you'll be required to do drug rehab. But that's a good thing, because...

You have a problem. You need drug rehab. Your going to continue to have problems until you get help.

I think you should talk with your po. Tell him you have a problem and that you want to get help. He can get you into a program with one phone call. Or, go to AA or one of the other 12 step programs. If you live near Niles, I suggest New Beginings. They have meetings every day at noon, 6:30pm and 8pm.
