C&G: Have you every became real-life friends with someone in this section only to discover...?

... That they were just as insane, if not more insane, in reality than online?

I just got the scare of my life right now. I befriended a troll named "Soul Seeker" a few months ago and he sent me constant emails trying to insult me and black women, but I laughed all of it off (I don't take trolls very seriously on here). He was astonished that I wasn't taking offense to anything that he wrote and then confessed that he was actually a black male trolling online for a "psychology project." We became Facebook friends (BIG MISTAKE) and we have chatted on a constant basis since then... up until this evening. To make a long story short, "Soul Seeker" aka Brandon Blackburne is a traumatized 21 year old Trinidadian on several of medications for depression and anxiety, among other conditions, and has had to see a psychiatrist for his issues. Tonight, we had differing views on a subject and he lost his mind. He wouldn't stop messaging me with insults and slanders, similiar to the ones he sent me months ago when he was trolling on C&G... I believe that he still does troll on here. I actually became a little frightened... not so much by the incessant messages but because Brandon is clinically depressed, suicidal, and currently living alone in VA with no means of supporting himself. I let him tell me off because I hoped that it would bring him some comfort. I asked him when was the last time he saw his psychiatrist and that is when he stopped replying.

My point is to STOP taking these trolls so seriously... they truly are out of their minds in their real lives. Trolling on Y!A brings them much solace. Also, I learned to not blame all of the trolls with black avatars on whites; some are apparently psychotic black men. I'm NOT making this story up either. . . .

Does anyone have any horror stories with any other users?

Haha, the person who answered before me does have a point.
But aside from that, I think its a bad idea in the first place to befriend a troll..
I feel bad for this person you've met, but at the same time, maybe its better to leave them alone.. >___<

There are a lot of troubled people out there, and I have known them. I am sorry you were frightened but I think it is wrong for you to be posting his name and personal information this way.

Actually, not all trolls are 'truly out of their minds' some just have nothing better to do.
