Can I sue someone if they put a picture of me on facebook without my permission and how much can I get?

This girl at my school took an bad picture of me and posted it on facebook and made rude comments about it without my permission and it destroyed me. I had people calling me names when I would walk down the halls. I want to sue her for emotional detress and slander (for creating a bad image of me). Can I do that; and if I can how much can I sue her for?

Here is the problem, you are both under 18. And from a legal standpoint, your signatures are fairly worthless on legal documents.

Prove the emotional distress. Why would you sue for money if no money was taken from you? How did she ruin you? Did she personally ruin you? Or did a majority of people make fun of you? You wouldn't get anything. I would just contact facebook about the photo and tell them to remove it. Also, I would tell the principal at the school. Suing because you got your feelings hurt is a lame reason to ruin someone elses life. Because if you sued, her parents (if under 18) would have to pay for everything. It's not worth it.

No. I'm assuming that you were either in a public place, and therefore had no expectation of privacy, or you gave her permission to take your picture. In either case, she can do whatever she wants with the picture.

You cannot sue her for anything. Truth is an absolute defense for slander. And a picture of you is not slander nor are her comments even tho they were rude. She did not create the bad image.
