the vast majority of personal injury lawyers don't charge a fee unless they win your case...at which time, they receive a percentage (usually, around 30%) of your award. if that's what you sign up for, then, no, you can't get back the money paid to your lawyer from the award money. however, if you pay a lawyer upfront (with your own money) and win your case, you can make a request to the court that the bus company reimburse you for your attorney fees.

Buses have no money, nor can they engage in legal negotiation.

Perhaps you mean the bus company.

This is how it works: If your daughter suffered an injury due to the negligence of the employee of the bus company they are liable for her damages. If your daughter suffered an injury due to your negligence (not watching her for example) they are not liable. You need to gather up the bills from the hospital etc and bring them to a personal injury attorney. That attorney will be paid somewhere between 30-40 % of your eventual win. Many of them won't charge you if they lose, and others will only charge you their out of pocket expenses if they lose. These are questions you need to ask the attorneys as you interview them.

Lawyers who take personal injury cases take their percentage off the top of any settlement. It's all in the contract you sign with them. Make sure you read and understand any contract before you sign it. Remember that they are lawyers. You will NOT win if you have to sue your lawyer.

They might take 30% or more of any money you 'win' through the courts. If the court awards you 1000 dollars, the lawyer is going to take $300 of that money and you would get 700 on a 70/30 split.

a customary fee a lawyer charges for personal injury cases is 30% of the settlement. that pays all his fees.
