College parking ticket, how to legally fight?

Postby delrico » Sat Feb 25, 2012 10:48 pm

My school has an "appeal process", but it involves you filling out a form and them just telling you the appeal is denied without giving a reason.

I had 2 tickets, one was my next class day from the first ticket. I have an 8 AM class and their traffic dept doesn't open until 8 AM.. so I literally could not get a sticker for my car.. I put that on the appeal and they denied it anyway. The first ticket they cited 2 violations for the same ticket that meant literally the same thing. (They were only supposed to choose which best describes the violation and it be a $20 fee, instead they chose both "unauthorized area" and "no decal displayed" and are telling me I have to pay $40.. which is more than a parking decal for the semester costs. Again, appeal denied with no explanation.

This is obviously a scam since they decide whether you owe them for a violation they made up and don't even provide details why.. Is there a way to fight this in the legal system where it is less biased toward them? If so how?

You don't hon. It is a scam. Perhaps a bike is in your future? Or on campus housing?

College parking ticket, how to legally fight?

first: you seem to think that it is the schools fault for not being open at a time that is more convenient to you
second: why hadnt you gone in before the semester started to buy your pass? (universities/colleges) usually open at LEAST a week before semester starts, meaning you had plenty of time to go in and get your stuff figured out.
third: why didnt you go to the traffic dept to get a sticker/pass AFTER your class was over? you chose to just leave

this isnt a scam, you are just ignoring the rules of parking and got caught twice. not anyones fault but your own.

edit: in response to your added details, it is NOT the schools fault for having classes at 8AM hahaha thats just silly to think that!! YOU chose your schedule! and i never said you had to be physically two places at one time...... no one expects you to and for you to assume that anyone can by your sarcastic attitude proves a little bit of immaturity on your part

if this is the case where you have to register online and then have to bring in the check to pay why didnt you do this before the semester started? you still dont give a valid reason on why you didnt take care of this BEFORE you had this problem...

(you also state your schedule vs the schedule of the department.... you have a good hour to take care of that between your classes....yet you havent... hmmmm

did you ever really consider that maybe its not being approved because you are in the wrong? there is NOTHING you can say or do to convince them that THEY are doing the wrong thing here.....

there is NOTHING shady about your situation! see..... the only thing here is you not wanting to take responsibility for your parking violations..... once you start following the campus rules and the laws of the state guess what? youll stop getting tickets!!

edit: no offense but youre not convincing me in any way to take your side on this all im hearing is i forgot, i did this and then this happened, i didnt see the sign. everything is one big excuse, and its not good enough.

edit: and you clearly are showing your immaturity.... thanks! :) i really dont care what you think about me ive just been responding to your useless rants that is all, there is no need to insult. we are all adults here, lets act like it shall we?

They HAD to have been open prior to your first class day, because of situations like this.

Absolutely had to.

Pay your fine. You deserve it for not paying better attention to hours and making time to go get a pass.
