Commercial driving freeway laws?

Postby wattekinson86 » Wed Feb 29, 2012 9:20 am

My dad got a ticket driving on the freeway in a big commercial truck for work. He was driving on one freeway when another freeway ramp came up so he moved over about 1-2 miles from the ramp so he could continue on the original freeway. He was given a ticket. I was wondering if anyone knew how many miles before the ramp to the freeway could he move over. We already checked the dmv handbooks and online. Thanks!

Commercial driving freeway laws?

Different states have different laws. I was told that California requires commercial trucks to stay in the far right lane at all times, but I've run a lot of miles in California and see a lot of trucks in the #2 lane. If your dad got a ticket, vehicle code that he violated should be referenced on the citation.

You never said what he was given the ticket for, that would help to know what he did wrong. I have to guess that he went into a lane that commercial trucks aren't normally allowed? Was there a sign indicating that?
