Could I be accepted into the Naval Academy?

Postby webb » Mon Dec 19, 2011 5:25 pm

I am a sophomore in high school and my dream is to attend the Naval Academy in Annapolis. I have a 3.95 GPA, class president, three sport athlete, (football, basketball, track) student council, political action president, peer mentor, honors student, 2time tri-state honors choir, glee club, member of future community and career leaders of America, students for a better tomorrow, active with church and 2 local political organizations. I was accepted to a conference for outstanding sophomores in the state (one is maximum for each district) sorry for the lengthy details, but I need an accurate answer! Thank you!

Wow! You have a great chance. Talk to a Blue and Gold Officer in your area (internet search) who will guide you throught the specifics.

Detroit,
You sound like you are on the right track. Take a look at my past post to Navel Seal Jack and the others. Much of the same feedback would apply to your situation.

You need to engage your Blue & Gold Officer and ask for their guidance. The USNA admission office or your school counselor can provide his/her contact information.

Contact your Congressional Representatives and your Senators to review their nomination process. Get a review of their past nominations who received an offer for appointment and see how you compare.

You may want to consider NJROTC or Civil Air Patrol to gain military influences. Build your whole person multiplier as much as you can in the time you have left.

Finally, are you sure you want to go the USNA route? There will be a lot of pain with little pleasure for all four years and then the Navy/Marine Corp will own your future for at least the next 5 years.

Best Wishes!
