Custody?

My child currently lives with me. What happen easily don't apply for custody and that I allow his father visit with him in another states after I drop there may he consider him after which attempt to document for custody because condition? I reside in NC he lives in FL

I would have a formal custody agreement in place before allowing your child to leave the state to visit with his other parent. It's not like he's in another country but the father could claim abandonment or something strange like that.
