First offence shoplifting. Will I get a criminal record?

I was with a friend who was shoplifting and I thought she had put the item back. I didn't touch anything but was still held in the office. We were both banned from the store for 6 months and have to do restorative justice. I got a civil recovery letter in the mail from a lawyer in Toronto saying they have agreed to settle it if I pay so much money. I'd like to get into a law enforcement career. Will I get a criminal record and will this screw me over for getting a job?

Same thing happened to me, i was with my friend who shoplifted earrings, but still they punished me. she didnt even get grounded by her parents but i got grounded for 2 months. i didnt even do anything.
i never had to pay anything though, probably because it was in a different country.
it depends on your age, i doubt it will be on your criminal record if your under 18.
