Have you ever put on medications that interact with each other?

Postby teyrnon72 » Sat Apr 09, 2011 9:32 am

I was ordering my hubbys perscription yesterday on the internet, yes we can do that now. I was curious about all his medications so i clicked on the link in his profile that said drug interactions. I found out two of his meds are not supposed to be perscirbed together. when i asked my husband about it, he told me to stay out of it and mind my own business that the doctor knows what he is doing, question is does he? what would you have done? well i wrote the pharmacy and asked them to call my doctor and see why he perscribed these two meds that interact. Im awaiting a reply as we speak. Has this ever happened to you? Im worried because it said the outcome could be horrible like kidney failiure. Im sorry but he is my husband and i dont want him dead ya know? Did I do the right thing interfiering or should have i just let it be? Diane

Be sure to let us know what happens when the pharmacy calls your husbands doctor. With all the commercials on TV it is scarry when they list all the possible side effects. I do not (LUCKILY) take and perscription meds.

I would have checked it out also. I call the pharmacy if I have questions or the doctor himself. My husband would have told me to stay out of it also but since my husband is only taking one prescription, I doubt this will happen. I don't even know the name of my husband's doctor! I was put on a prescription two weeks ago for a virus that just wouldn't go away. Read the insert that came with the rx but took the rx anyway. It specifically said not to take it with blood pressure pills. I ran the risk and did it anyway since I couldn't afford to spend another day in the restroom. Lost 6 pounds right away and couldn't eat. I would think my doctor would know not to prescribe something that would interact with my regular meds but don't know if doctor's take a close look at the patient's chart when they call. Once things were under control, I quit taking the prescription.

Yes makes u wonder if they do, but shouldnt the pharmacist say something they for sure know what interacts together in fact i got the info off the pharmacy site. My doctor is quick to write out a perscription dont think he checks at all what else we are on im waiting for the answer on this one, man i want my hubby around ya know, i really dont care how mad he gets at me its not worth his life for me not to ask questions. Thanks for giving me the best response. Walgreen's recently filled 2 different prescriptions for me for cholesterol medication on the same day. Now this is a mistake and would have thought they paid closer attention to what they were doing. My dr. decided to change one of the meds and Walgreen's messed up. I caught the mistake once I had both rx's at home. I'll finish the old one before starting the new one since it's too much trouble to return a prescription.

Yeah see thats what i dont get. this pharmacist knows us very well, it seems like they are not even checking what meds should be perscribed together and which should not. why would the pharmacist even fill a rx when he knows it will interact with another? Im still waiting for a response either from the pharmacist or doctor. geezzz

My pharmacist at CVS has a record of all the medicines prescribed by my doc. So I'm informed to take the meds spaced out throughout the day. Well, one time I took both the high blood pressure pill and the Lexapro at the same time. I became dizzy, then figured out that both meds together lowers the blood pressure too much. Anyway, as for your unbelieving hubby, you will have to secretly keep any info to yourself. Then, when he has a bad reaction to different meds taken at the same time, then you can calmly tell him the reason! Actually, my husband is the same way, so that's how I deal with it.

well maybe thats what the doctor told him not to take the two meds together i dont know he tells me nothing. im supposed to mind my own business. i cant wait for a reaction because the reaction according to the interactions is kidney failure.
