Battery in hospital but I don't remember it because they placed me on several medications, advice?

I just went to an arraignment today and got a public defender assigned but still they are too busy to talk. I go to court again in less than a month. I had received a letter in mail stating i was in violation of ca penal code 243.2(a) battery in a hospital. To keep a long story short, I was 51/50d due to a car wreck and was unable to communicate and immediately went into psychosis after cops dragged me out of the vehicle and broke my windows. I remember very little of being un the hospital because they started putting me on all kinds of antipsychotic medications when in reality all I needed was sleep and maybe to be slightly sedated. .. After being completely out of it for 3 days (read the medical records..) I must have hit someone, I dont even know the hospital staff guy but .. I was til today to stay away from him. .. I'm so remorseful and finally my brain is working after I feel they fried my brain with numerous medications.. I'm just kind of wondering if anyone knows anything about this type of thing and if I will be looking at serving time even though I'd consider it temporary insanity and more so because the hospitals doing yet I don't think it is considered malpractice because they were only trying to help. Everything I look up on line is and see is just basic law information on that penal code and I could face a year in jail. .. I'm so concerned and really sorry I even did that, but what I do remember is just being extremely paranoid and scared and hearing loud noises frightened me worse... The incident happened in the state of California if that helps.
