You really need to get rid of the "I'm gonna sue somebody" mentality at this point! Take care of your father first. If at some point there is reason to believe he was the victim of medical malpractice, there will be at least two whole years to file. In the meantime, if you act as though you are even thinking about suing, it will scare the stuffing out of all personnel in the hospital, and your father's care will suffer simply because they are skittish. (For that reason, all attorneys I know make it a very careful point NOT to let hospital personnel know they are attorneys when either they or a family member is a patient. Nervous people make more mistakes than when they are allowed simply to do their jobs without additional pressure.)
