My disabled high school daughter was hit by a guy and when people stopped him to tell him he said she should have moved the f**k out of the way. She was walking with other schoolmates. Her brothers saw her being picked up off of the ground, then heard what the guy had said before he got back in his car and left. The police had come for a couple of other teens that had been fighting and he pulls back around the corner a few moments later next to the police. My sons go over to him because he is now saying what he will do and they get angry and try to attack him. But before they are able to do so they are detained by the police they handcuff my youngest son and my oldest son is partially handcuffed. While being partially handcuffed my son still hasn't quite calmed down yet because he is angry that the guy has hit his sister with his vehicle and leaves as if he has done nothing and then comes back making threats. Everyone telling him to calm down. With my son still partially handcuff the police yells in my son ear and my son yanks his shoulder away from the police and he throws my son down and then says you tried to grab my son when all my son was doing was trying to catch his balance. The eventually let my younger son go that night because he is 17. My oldest son who is now 18, they detained him saying that they are deciding what to charge him with. I told the police what had happened when the guy hit my daughter and that I wanted to file a police report against the guy that hit my daughter. He tells me that since they didn't see anyone hurt they won't allow me to file a report. But they let the guy file a report against my sons. I did take my daughter to the hospital because she was complaining that her leg was hurting. He ran over her foot but she sustained a contusion to her leg right under her knee and some bruising. So the hospital allowed me to fill out paper work for victims and gave her some motrin for pain and ice. She has been limping also. I have two cases to deal with in one. I have been even told my law officials that it looks as if they know the guy and they are railroading my son. They are currently trying to charge him with a felony. We do have witnesses that saw what happened and states that the guy was lying and also the policeman. I am trying to get an appointment to see the chief of that department and seeking a lawyer. Since everything is about money and I don't have much it is hard finding someone to represent us. This is a personal injury/auto accident case as well as a criminal case. My son doesn't have a record. He is in high school about to graduate and trying to get into U of I. I don't want to allow then to mess up his future plans in getting into a good university for something he didn't do. Can someone PLEASE head me in the right direction? Other policeman have told me that I wasn't suppose to be denied filing a police report. The police department has a reputation for being prejudice and harassing people.
