How do i protect an awesome business idea?

Postby hrafn » Mon Jul 23, 2012 9:20 pm

ok here is my situation i have a cool website/business idea but am not technologically savvy enough to build the site my self so i want to bring in a tech guy to build the site and i would like someone to bounce ideas off of to improve my idea but i have no money to pay them i have just enough for the business start up so i figure maybe i can offer 49% of my business idea to them to get them to do it but how can i do this and protect my idea? they may just say their not interested then run off and do it themselves i have heard of something called a non disclosure agreement would this work? or is their something else i should do? the cheaper the better it would take me awhile to save for a lawyer

anyways thanks for reading and any help you offer

First, NEVER offer ANY amount--do not
even discuss "the money end"--until way
after you've spoken with someone who's
a) an intellectual property attorney
b) perhaps in an advertising agency
or
c) in the business department in an
academic capacity (University, junior college)

Be just a touch patient--you'd likely fare better
in discussing the surface elements of your
brainchild with several people of above quality.

Also--make sure you get any of their "assurances"
or offerances or the like IN WRITING once you
have reached the point of things fruitionizing.

Best of...!
