How does a class action lawsuit work? will this be worth my time/money to pursue?

Postby shen86 » Thu Mar 31, 2011 11:28 am

i was told i qualify for a class action lawsuit against a dental company. i have heard similar stories to mine where work was not done right and people were roughed up. they paid for their services and didn't get their teeth. they had credit collections call me at all hrs threatening to sue and also had this lady from the agency tell me that she thought i was trying to get something for nothing. now each one of them is closed down because they are trying to claim bankruptcy. i paid the collections and still haven't gotten my permanent teeth. there are so far 500 people in this law suit and still growing. the lawyers helper said that i am considered a lead in this case.

Sometimes it is, sometimes it isn't. Usually when the company claims bankruptcy you won't get anything at all. However occasionally it pays to do it just on principles. It's your decision.

If you have been solicited by a law firm for a class action, it's all about the law firm getting money. The more people they have in the lawsuit, the more money is awarded, and the higher their pay (since they take a huge percentage of the award).

And usually you wind up getting a very, very small amount, since the remainder is divided between all the participants.
