Postby adusa37 » Sat Oct 29, 2011 2:25 am

hey thanks in advance!
my cousin is a cart attendant and while he was trying to put some carts inside the carts hit the corner of the door so the carts went back and hit his face but the only thing that got damaged was his teeth both his front teeth are half chipped off.. he is feeling pain every time he touches it with his mouth this happened on a Saturday and got reported to the managers and workers comp.
they told him that he has to take a drug test within 24 hours but were we are located it was closed n open on Monday they also told him that they will pay the dentist so he will not have to pay any money.so what we want to know is can he receive any extra money , aside form his job paying for his broken teeth due to his pain?? thanks again in advance.

He pays into the Comp fund out of every paycheck. When he is injured on the job, he can file a claim and receive benefits. Tell him to contact the state Comp department and fill out the papers.

The original intent of the fund was to cover a worker who lost an arm on the job. Over the years, it has changed. He might get some money.

You need to contact a workers compensation lawyer. You have to be very careful because you want to pick one that only takes cases for workers and only workers compensation cases. You dont want a lawyer that does other types of lawsuits or one who represents the employers too. They will give your a free consult and then get one who only takes from you if they win and it goes by state a certain percent. Dont listen to employers they want to avoid big payouts, so talk to lawyer.
