Workers compensation...how does it work?

Postby delron » Tue Dec 27, 2011 10:18 am

Okay, I live in Tennessee and was injured at my job earlier this month. I hurt my back, and shoulder. I've gone to the companies docs as requested, had xrays, physical therapy, and has missed the past week and half of work. I've gotten poastcards from the state about workers comp but that doesn't tewll me anything. I've gotten calls from claims adjusters, nurses, but that doesn't explain anything. My questions are mainly, when, how much am I going to be paid? When can I go back to work, and can my manager fire me because of this? I know its holiday season but can someone give me some info that's helpful. Thanks!

Workers compensation is a insurance for employees. And yes you should get paid as if your working when you aren't work. You should go to workers compensation office to file claims with all medical details as for proofs.

As for company, yeah they could fire you but you still get paid by workers compensation and the paid should keep on until doctor say you are healed and able to go back to work. Once doctor say you are ready back to work, then when company refused to let you return because your fired, you next step is file unemployment benefits which you legally has rights to get unemployment checks weekly.
