How much should I put away out of my paycheck?

Postby winfrid12 » Tue Nov 22, 2011 6:22 am

I am 14 and getting a work permit tomorrow (meaning i can go work anywhere they'd hire a 16 yr old). Because of stupid child labor laws I can only work 3 hours a day 3 days a week. so thats about 65 bucks a week which is like 280 a month. I really want a car when I turn 16 because i dont wanna use my parents car (its brand new and i dont wanna risk wrecking it). So how much should i put away? I have a bank account with $100 in it already :/

Well, you should put at least half. That will get you about 1680 a year or around $3,000 in two years when you turn 16.

Correction: It means you can work anywhere they will hire a 1 year old with a work permit. The fact it is legal for you to work anywhere it is legal for a 16 year old to work DOES NOT mean individual employers must accept your application.

If you are looking to buy a car in 2 years, save your ENTIRE income. Accepting your numbers, you should GROSS about $6500 in 2 years. That will buy a good used car.

Put away about 30 bucks a week if you can afford it.

now you have a job your Mum will want something for food and power and looking after you..

On you first pay day, buy her a nice present to thank her for bringing you up !!!!!

dont just think about you, and your car..
