How much will an insurance company pay me for my not at fault motorcycle accident?

Postby bearchan » Sun May 27, 2012 5:31 am

i was recently in a motorcycle accident. the other driver was at fault. i do believe she was given a ticket for the accident as well for failure to yield to on coming traffic on a left turn. My Bike was totalled beyond repair. my bikes KBB price was at $5100 but i had an exhaust and some other after market parts on it and i had let my insurance know they were on the bike.I also had a few injuries but nothing to crazy that i know of yet. getting an MRI done in a couple weeks. never been in an accident before at all just wondering of whats gonna happen. Any info would be great please and thank you

Give all the bills to the other party's auto insurance company. They will pay for the damage to your bike for the value of the bike. Give them all the receipts for the extra stuff you bought. Sounds like an illegal exhaust system so I don't think you will get reimbursed for it. But give the insurance company all your receipts anyways.

Contact the other person's insurance company and get the process started. They should pay you the "book" price for your vehicle (which might not be the same as the KBB value), but there's not much chance they'll pay for the add-on parts. You might have to argue with them on the settlement price.

Also don't sign anything in the way of a settlement until all your medical procedures and treatments are completed and paid for by the other person's insurance.

If you have any problems with the other person's insurance company, call your own insurance company and let them settle it. In fact, call your own insurance now and let them know what's going on. This will help speed things up if they have to get involved.
