i did not want to post it here but the site i was going to put it on is being dumb...
So... here it is... dont laugh, i know its bad...
When Marjane is around her parents the personality that she shows is completely different. From a very independent personality to somewhat more of a brat, and childlike, or immature but that is to be expected of a 10 year old girl right? In the story Persepolis; Marjane seems to display a multitude of different personas; in the story. One of the most noticeable changes in her personality is when she is around her parents.
While Marjane is usually a very independent and self-relying; it is almost like there is a different person in the room when she is around her parents. Almost as if she is trying to annoy her parents to get what she wants like all children do to their parents. She often times will shift to a childlike, and bratty personality. A good example of this is when she wanted to go with her father to demonstrate on the street with her parents and when her father said no, Marjane did what all children do and asked the other parent, her mother. But when her mother also said no; Marjane started to beg them to take her.
Another example of Marjane’s persona changes around her parents is in the chapter the water cell when Marjane’s parents came home from demonstrating one day and after they were marching, and throwing stones all day while they were aching all over; Marjane asks them to play monopoly even though she saw that they were tired.
Then she gets angry when they said “no” and she gets mad and pouts. But then when she finally doses her way and her parents ask to play monopoly, she says that she wants to take a bath, showing that her wanting to play monopoly was just to get back at her parents for not taking her to demonstrate with them.
In conclusion I feel that one of the most noticeable changes in Marjane’s personality based on her action in the story towards her parents and reactions that she gives them. Is when she is around her parents. Marjane shifts from a very independent personality to somewhat more of a brat, and childlike, or immature. And will try to manipulate an answer out her parents so that she can have her way, like most children; but usually it does not work.
