I want to be a makeup artist? A lot of people don't take this seriously?? PLZ READ?

Postby pannoowau » Tue May 29, 2012 4:46 am

So i'm only 15 and i want to be a makeup artist, i'm not saying i'm not gonna change my mind, obviously i have plenty of time to plan my life out i just like to think about these things you know, and i am very artistic (i often enter in art competitions and do art classes) and i have this massive obsession with makeup. I love playing with makeup and putting it on, buying it, watching youtube tutorials on it and doing really creative makeup looks. Anyway, whenever i say i want to be a makeup artist, no one barely ever takes it seriously. They think i'm just saying it cos it sounds girly and glamorous, or because i can't be stuffed to (or am too stupid to) get better grades and something more "proper". It's so annoying! I do well in school, it's not my learning abilities that are holding me back from being something like a doctor or a lawyer, it's just something i love! Besides, makeup courses are short, i could easily do a course in makeup and a course like business in university. Sorry if i'm just ranting but why can't anyone just see that it's a proper job with heaps of opportunities (music, theatre, movies, magazines, TV, freelance, makeup companies and tons more)
What do you guys think ?? thanks for listening to me drag on lol xx

I think that sounds great! If it is what you enjoy then go for it! Only your opinion matters! Do what you want to do, if you think it is the one thing you enjoy the most,GO FOR IT! And remember if you change your mind a few years after you could always go back to college!

Sure makeup is a great hobby, and that doesn't mean that makeup shouldn't be our job too...But you may as well enjoy your freedom as a student when you have it. When you're older you might consider more serious job opportunites, and not saying that makeup isn't serious business. Just look at your options, pursue stress and better job opportunities or lay back and do what you love?

Come on, if know how to do makeup you can become a makeup artist. Just do not be too afraid. Okay.

Hi, Rachel (: My name is Kati, and I'm 17. I'm a senior in high school, and have known that I wanted to be a cosmetologist for the past 3 years of my life. I'm enrolling in Aveda Frederic's Institute next fall, and I know that my choice is a great one. If make-up is something that you love and have a huge passion for, as I do, then go for it! I'm glad that I'm doing it. All of my friends and family tell me that I have a talent for it, and I usually do their make-up for big events, like prom or a wedding. Start by doing that, and see where it goes. Putting make-up on others is a whole lot different than doing it to your own face! (: I know that many people will try and tell you that it doesn't make enough money, blah blah blah.. but it definitely does! As long as you work your way up to a good salon, and try your best, you'll be pretty well off. You could even to stage make-up, or become a celebrity make-up artist! Just think of the possibilities! Good luck, and choose a good school! (:
