Ideas for a summer family vacation on the east coast?

Me and my 2 sister in laws are thinking about bringing all our kids on a long weekend (friday-monday) in July while our husbands have a golfing weekend. We all live in Wildwood together during the summer and us and the kids all get along great. We dont want it to be on the Jersey shore because we are so used to that unless it is north Jersey, and differnt from the rest. Not Philadelphia because we live right outside of there during the other 3 seasons. There are 5 kids ages 6-16. We all love travel and having a lot of fun. Us moms like to relax. We want to keep in driving distance. No further than maybe 6-7 hours. We did Cape Cod a few years ago. Oh, and we are also on some what of a budget.
