You can't pick and choose here, either we base our laws on ALL of the bible, or none of it. That means no working on Sunday, no cutting your hair, no planting crops in fields for more than seven years in a row, no eating shellfish, no wearing cloth of mixed fabric, woman can't vote of own property to speak in a man's presence. All of it.
And the 10 Commandments? Well, those won't work either. The first four are about worship, not morality, and nowhere is 'rape' mentioned. Should we then allow rape in the USA? Oh, wait, in Leviticus it says that if a man rapes a woman he has to pay her father 20 shekels and then has to marry her.
So, should be base our laws on the Bible? Should we have religious law just like Iran? Or can we agree religion should have nothing to do with secular law. Nothing.
