making stricter laws w/o a comprehensive reform will not work. there is no way to fill all the immigrants job positions. an unemployed sales man, for example, is not a skilled concrete worker nor an efficient tile installer. what about all the agriculture workers? there is a lot of them. if they go away, production will go down. not only that. the scarcity of workers created by deportation also creates the need for more immigrants to come. so, the first step is to let most of them stay after a fair and comprehensive penalization. skipping the first step only creates suffering and loss of production.
I think we should let them stay so they have to pay all their taxes. their children should also be
encouraged to study so they can give something else back to the society besides their labor.
its an age old tradition to blame a minority for every problem in the society. it happened with jewish(by nazi Germans and some americans), chinese (in the us), irish, african americans(during the reconstruction of the south). believe it of not, even global warming has become the immigrants fault.
also people from poor country have a culture of saving. we citizens could learn a lot from them. that way we would reduce our footprint on the environment. our failure to learn from them is hurting every one.
