Illegal immigration: are most people for or against making more strict laws?

Postby chatima » Wed Dec 14, 2011 4:16 am

I have to write a paper about it and Im wondering what the popular opinion is in the U.S. Do most people want stricter laws or does the majority think nothing should be done about it or something along those lines. Also do the different political parties have different over all opinions concerning this matter, thanks :)

I think most people are just the government ignoring it all. .. lack of enforcement of current laws, lack of reforming immitration policy so its more sensible and works.

I think there should be stricter laws. The border states (Arizona, NM, Tex, but not cali.) think there should be. In general, most republicans think they should be stricter and most democrats dont.

Im not sure what MOST people are but I sure am. In ALABAMA when all the people left their unemployment rate went down because people that were here illegal left making it easier to have citizens get jobs. I really dont understand why we need new laws. I just dont understand why they dont enforce the laws on the books. I voted for Obama but was pissed when he was for the imigrants in Alabama. He however has gotten a ton of people out of here. Not sure if its him or the states but whomever it is good job!

Enforce the ones we have - don't say "OK - you've been really good, so we'll let you stay."

That's a slap in the face to those waiting in line, and who can't swim the Atlantic or Pacific to get here on the sly.

We also need laws that say if you are not a US citizen, your child is not automatically a US citizen. That stops people just coming here to give birth.

This was my response to a similar question:
Well.... There would be less litter on private property along the border.
Rent would go down because there would be a whole lot of apartments empty.
Green Peace would be happy because 12,000,000 less cars on the road.
EPA would be happier because 12,000,000 cars not polluting
Gas would be cheaper because 12,000,000 people would not be buying it
Electricity would be cheaper because of all the empty apartments
Water would be more available because 12.000,000 less people
HOME DEPOT and LOWES would be cleaner and safer
Government could be smaller because you wouldn't need so many border guards
$4 or 5,000,000,000 would not go to another nation.
drug use would go down because of the lower number of mules and dealers
We would need less new highways with less cars/
The government could then repair highways using saved money
The real citizens would be hired to repair said highways.
The people on welfare would be used the clean Hotel rooms and homes
The government would need less money for welfare
Our taxes would go down because 12,000,000 freeloaders would be gone

Use your own brain to add to this list

I think it depends on where a person lives. If you're in Minnesota and you enjoy cheap oranges you probably have no idea that some California tax-payer had to send his kids to bed hungry to pay the social costs of the migrants that picked that fruit. On the other hand if you live in a battleground state like Arizona, the kidnapping capital of the US, and you take your life in your hands just getting to work every day, you care a hell of lot about illegal migration and want stronger laws

We need stricter laws to stop them from coming here in the first place then when need to just enforce the laws we already have.If the Federal Government wont do it then we the people will have to do it.
Its past just illegal immigration and into invasion force numbers. No country on Earth can afford it.They will take us down with them.Just read in depth how the fall of Rome came to be and you will see what will happen to us if we continue this way.Its already beginning.
