Immigration Lawyer who is unethical?

I hired an immigration attorney for my fiance that we have a child together. Initially they agreed to take the case and told me that they won similar cases before; unfortunately when i paid more than thousand dollar, they told me that this is hard hard case to win. I decided to drop the case and not to sacrifice more money. Apparently they are just profit oriented, and do not any moral principles. They are doing this to take an advantage for immigrants who have limited English and the law of this country. The firm's name is Hochstatter, McCarthy, Rivas & Runde, of Milwaukee. They charged me 1500 and no service was provided. They send me an statement showing some document preparaton, and phone calls. That was it! I shared this kind of information to the local community, but just want make sure that people should be vigilant. Anyone knows what other steps should i take to recover my money.

1. You can report them to the state bar.

2. You can file a complaint with another lawyer for malpractice and fraud.

3. You can appeal anything he's done at an INS hearing and request more time while you seek adequate counsel.

As a lawyer i can tell you that immigration law is not a straight forward practice. Just because you had a child with this woman does not make her eligible to come to our country. If they told you it is a hard case to win then they are giving you good advise. People have this strange idea that all they have to do is hire a lawyer and that they can get what they want, wrong!!!! only Perry Mason wins all of his cases.

You can file with your state bar any complete
If they are aila member complain there

get another attorney to go over your case
often the fault can be your own limited knowledge and errors
