Is it illegal for tourists to resell store-bought products internationally online?

e.g. going to Egypt, walking around the shops buying souvenirs and other things only available in Egypt, then selling these things on eBay for a profit? All while on "vacation" i.e. a tourist visa?

Surely it would depend on the laws of the country in question, but is this generally accepted?

Accepted and legal are different things.

So long as the product itself is not illegal, I do not see it as illegal to sell them. There may be tax/duty issue if you are, or it may seem you are doing it as a business.
