Is it just me, or is the US a hot mess right now? ...and is any other country trying to do too much?

I mean, it's like every day when you turn on the news something ridiculous is happening, and they usually revolve around four things

-LGBT rights
-Reproductive Rights
-Gun Control
-Health Care

I mean, first that congresswoman was banned from speaking on the floor for saying the word "vagina."

There was that shooting, so people are like "OMG we haz 2 take away teh guns!" and the other people are like "OMG how many criminals follow teh laws?!"

Then there's Obamacare, and all the politicians talking about repealing it, when no one really understands it. People are like "it's a tax," and others are like "it has good things like no more pre-existing conditions."

And finally....

Oreo took a picture of a multi-colored oreo and people were like "OMG we never eating oreos again!" and people responded by saying "Good, you're fat."

Then Chick-Fil-A revealed that they have donated 3 million dollars to anti-gay groups (including a group that supports the killing of gays in Uganda). and people (including me) are like "OMG homophobic chicken!" the there are other people who are like "OMG First amendment!!!1!one!" then the other side's like "The first amendment doesn't support hate speech! You're also ignoring the other part about freedom of religion."

It also seems like every time you turn on the news some politician has DUN GOOFED in some other country and offended everyone, and Hillary Clinton is bending over backwards to keep everything in shape.

I know it's an election year, but shouldn't we be trying to outsmart each other, not outstupid?

I agree with you. This country needs to move forward, and with all the conservatives in office, it doesn't seem like it's going to.
Election year is a joke. Instead of preaching the issues, politicians sling dirt at each other, then expect the US public to choose one them to represent the country.

I don't understand why gay rights have not been established. There is a separation of church and state for a reason. If the church doesn't want couples to be wed there, then so be it. Gays can always be married through the court, so I don't see how that involves the religious people. People will say it makes them uncomfortable, but so what. It's not effecting their life in any way.

I haven't looked to much into the Obama Care plan, but what's wrong with everybody having equal access to healthcare? There's kids dying out there because their parents can't afford it. If it means saving the lives of people both young and old, I would gladly pay extra taxes.

Oh, Reproductive Rights. What the f*ck is wrong with Mitt Romney? If he's elected president, he wants to shut down all Planned Parenthood facilities, make abortion illegal, and ban contraceptives. People have fought for years to gain those rights! And for what, for this ignorant white man to step in and say, "Those go against my beliefs. Therefore they must be wrong."

Yeah, I don't really have any input on gun regulations.

Personally i think people need to just shut up about all that crap. I care about gay rights just as much as the next guy.. but why do we need to make a huge deal of it every single day?

I dont particulary care about saving lives so... Obama care.... out

The main problem stems from the fact that the Church and the State in the United States are still closely-linked together, because of the conservative views of a lot of members of Congress. A country cannot progress on a level of human rights when religion is so deeply involved in its politics. A country where there are people like the poster above me who take the Bible so seriously cannot progress. They will be stuck on matters of contraception, abortion, women's rights, gay's rights, etc.

As for the health care, we up in the north are having quite a laugh at the United States. I'm not kidding. It's absolutely astonishing the level of greed and stupidity I have heard and seen in the Americans against Obamacare. I'm so, so thankful for public health care and better access to university where I live. It really helps society from becoming extremely greedy and sinking further into capitalism. Health isn't a merchandise to sell, neither is education.

As for gun control, it should be minimally regulated with stricter laws.

"I hope I offended everyone equally" hahaha :-)

Well, there will always be argument. It's just a fact of life. People think differently, and if you want to take that away...you, sir, are an idiot. And I mean that in the kindest way.

People are also too sensitive. And you want to know what I blame for the majority of hurt feelings and social arguments? Social media. And media in general. Now, before I sould like the crazy cat lady who puts a tin foil cap over her head when the TV's on...hear me out:

Man has been putting his foot in his mouth since the beginning of time. It's unavoidable, unless you actually THINK BEFORE YOU SPEAK. And even then, accidents happen. So used to, when President Bubba said something offensive to Queen Ida Mae, it wasn't such a big deal. Why? Because we couldn't INSTANTLY find out about it. Queenie gasped, Bubba blushed and stumbled out an apology, and a few high and mighty subjects got their feelings hurt. By the time the story was published in American papers, the foreign dignitary and Bubba had reconciled, and the American people just had an "Oh, you..." reaction. End of story.

But now, all the idiots of the world have their time to shine. Ah, idiots...how the media loves them. The Internet is the breeding grounds of idiots, and we must all realize that. Hell, I'm an idiot for just typing all this crap out. This is why you get Facebook updates full of "Oh Em Gee! They deserved it! The queen is sooooo overated!!!1!!1" And then of course, some forjuner hears that and gets THEIR feelings hurt, and since it is SO easy to reply via social media, they feel their opinion must be heard as well. Let the games begin. A few other idiots are suddenly political activists, and we dun got a problem over here.

I also blame the people in power, too. Notice I did NOT say government. Just people of power in general. We've bred a generation of people who feel like if not every single flipping thing goes their way, it's wrong.

LESON TIME: THE WORLD ISN'T FAIR. Oh my! That's a shocker, I know. But it's true. How about we all get over it. You're not entitled to anything. That includes LGBT, heterosexuals, Christians, atheists, Scientologists, Wiccans, whatever you are. That includes Democrats, Republicans, Libertarians, whoever! That's Texans, New Yorkers, Californians, Puerto Ricans. NO ONE OWES YOU ANYTHING. Get over yourself. Let's all actually weigh the options of whatever 'rights' we're pushing and move on with our lives.

Chik-Fil-A. How I miss the days when you could actually choose what you believe in. If it's okay to be for gay right's, then it's okay to be against it. I love Oreos. I love Chik-Fil-A. The whole killing gays in Uganda thing? That's terrible. Because killing is always wrong. But I don't really think that's true anyway, for my own reasons. Whatever. If you want to stop eating there, no one is going to force you. So how about you just do it, and not broadcast it to everyone. Because I don't give two f*cks if you like chicken or not.

You know that little 'Bee boo booo" thing that always played on Blue's Clues? Yeah. That's what goes through my head when people start talking about "my beliefs and I feel that..." whatever. Bee Boo boo reo.

LONG STORY SHORT: NO ONE CARES. Get over yourself. If you want to argue all the time, become a politician. But wait....you have to kind of have a brain to do that. Sort of. EDIT: Forgot to round off with, everyone has an opinion. Good for you. We need to respect that right and ability. HOWEVER, your opinion matter sh*t to the rest of the world. Some things are obviously right, and we need to voice that. But how about we do it in a civil way, NOT over Facebook.

Ow common, don't take away the biggest comedy in the world.

Everyone outside of the US like me has a good time laughing with the stupidity that's going on the US.

I mean the US is almost as easy material to abuse for comedians as religion is.

Keep your hands of my entertainment.
