Is it weird for this family to vacation separately?

Postby baigh » Thu Dec 15, 2011 11:09 pm

Husband and wife were married, each has one child from a previous marriage. The wife's mom wants to take the wife and her daughter on vacation for a week, knowing the husband and his child cannot afford to go. Husband isn't upset because he can't afford it, but because his mother in law is even suggesting this. Do you think they should take separate vacations? Or do you think someone is out of line here? And who is out of line?

I think you should not go on separate vacations as none of you would enjoy with each other neither the husband nor the wife. Its better to go together to some cheap vacation spot then to go alone to some expensive place without your partner. You can go to panama as it is the most cheapest place in for having a good vacation with your family and you would also enjoy there the most. As you would get good choices of resorts over there thats suites best to your husband's budget.

It's sad because the grandmother obviously doesn't consider the stepchild to be her grandchild, but there's nothing the husband can do about that. If that bothers the husband, he should talk to his wife about it.
