Is there some law about solicitors leaving voice mail messages?

Postby mace » Wed Dec 21, 2011 6:49 am

a person from this phone number (866-553-1697) called and left a voice mail on my work phone to call them back, but never said who they are. So i called them to find who they are and they are a consumer debt company trying to find people with credit card debt to help them reduce it.

My question is, isn't there some law about solicitors leaving voice mails messages on phones especially work phones?

I live in Washington state.

Thanks

I just searched for the Do Not Call registry when I saw that your phone is a business line. The law that protects us from calls is for home phones or cell phones. I do not know about any protections for businesses.

I doubt there is a law that covers debt collectors. But you need to tell them you are not the person they are looking for, that person is never at that number and to take you off their call list. Get the name of the person calling, or the person you talk to. They should stop at that point.
