Law Enforcement Help Please?!?!?

Postby boynton35 » Sat Feb 25, 2012 4:17 am

Can you still have a career in law enforcement with a misdemeanor reckless driving conviction? I am wanting to become a Probation Officer after college and when I read the requirements for my state, all it says is " One must be 21 years of age, NO FELONY CONVICTIONS, and pass all the tests. It doesnt say anything about misdemeanor traffic violations.. So I wanted to get your opinion if you think its still possible? Also, the law enforcement requirements in my state say one must wait 3 years from the date he or she was convicted of a misdemeanor. Thanks for your time!

You answered your own question. If the requirements explicitly state "Felony Conviction"(not felony charges) then you may apply for position in the DOC after waiting the 3 years from your misdemeanor conviction. Big difference between "Conviction", "Charges" and "Guilty Plea".
