See what the plea bargain offered is I don't know about reckless driving, but once I supposedly was caught going through a red light. I disagreed and was all set to go to court to fight the ticket. No attorney, just me. I believe it was the prosecuting attorney for the city that I had to meet with before going into court. He suggested that I just pay the fine, 1 or 2 points off my driving record for 2 yrs(instead it was going to be like 4 points for 4 years or something like that) and avoid the trial. Basically what it boiled down to is that they just wanted the $. I had no prior driving violations. That might help you too. Maybe do that, call the city attorney(or county, whatever) explain the situation, and see what they might be willing to deal. It certainly won't be a reduction in the fine(s).
