military doctors, military health clinics and a military primary health care provider concerning misdiagnosis and malpractice? I know it will be a tough row to hoe, but I know there has to be a way to at least make the docs who were negligent in diagnosing my husband's cancer accountable for their actions so that no one else has the same issues. If my husband had been properly diagnosed 5 years ago, he could have gotten treatment and would not have lost his kidney. During the operation, their was some sort of issue that effected his spleen. The man was "bleeding out for a week" and even went to the local ER and then back down to Landstuhl Regional Medical Hospital and was sent home the same day. A week later, he was at the base clinic and was told he was 3 pints low and it should have been caught when he went down to LRMH. He is now recovering from a splenectomy and is on feeding tubes. This could have been avoided had he been diagnosed properly. more in db

Jemsmom, I gave up on justice from the Military/VA a long time ago. All I've got is this starting point:http://www.veteransforpeace.org/Perhaps you may find a contact through them that has more specifics on your question. Good luck, you'll need it. A vet that's been there.

Thanks maggo. I know there is talk of overturning the Feres Doctrine which completely ties all service members' hands to litigation of any sort. The only way the military can be sued for medical malpractice is if it is a dependent that was the victim. I have been trying to find out all I can, but I might be missing something. Kinda funny, now, that the WTU Cadre and the doctors around here are not only kissing my butt but my husband's butt as well.

JEMS_Mom said: 2 He began complaining of issues with his back and other tell tale symptoms five years ago in Iraq. He was told he had a UTI and to go back to work. He was also told he simply had a minor muscle issue in his back and put into physical therapy. He was also told his diet was causing him to have blood in his urine. Hunh? It was only after really being a squeaky wheel and someone going back and proof reading an MRI done on his back did someone notice a grapefruit sized mass on his kidney. If this had been properly diagnosed and caught, he would have only had to lose part of a kidney or even had just the mass removed. Instead, he is back in the hospital due to complications from the nephrectomy. I just know there has to be some recourse. Being that we are in Germany, the only legal advise I can get is from active duty military. I don't feel I would get a fair, unbiased answer and that I would get the brush off. Thanks guys...I know this is long and detailed but I am sure some of you other military people know of something I am missing here. 57 months ago

Thanks, sweety. I appreciate it. Poor guy is hungry and cant eat. The charge nurse(God bless her..she calls me 3x per day) says they dont know when he will be out of the hospital. Keep those prayer coming. If he had waited one more day to get medical help(he's hard headed) he most likely would not be here at all.
