Multiple job offers how to choose?

Postby favian » Fri Feb 24, 2012 12:12 pm

Ok well I went on an interview and was being considered for a job, so I then went to a job fair and was offered a job with an offer letter and everything. The job fair job is pending background check and reference check, but the interview job has already done all of this and will make an offer tomorrow. I have been unemployed for almost a year and my credit is kinda bad now so I'm not sure if the job fair job will deny me based on that and I do t want to turn down the interview job and not get the other one. So what would you do? I don't know the salary of the interview job yet. Will a company offer you a job if they were seriously concerned about your credit? Background and ref are not a problem. I don't have any bankruptcy or law suits just a few lates and 1 item in collections. Oh interview job is at home with odd hours and fair job is in office with day hours. I prefer the fair hours and that job but I don't want to not have anything because I turned down a sure thing. Can I take it and tell them I don't want it later?

Before a company hires you for a 'real job,' you will get a formal offer letter. The offer letter states your salary, the benefits you negotiated for, and your future job title. Many will require a timed response, but usually if you have another offer pending, you can delay you start date at little bit.

I'd wait until you have offers in hand from each company before you even worry about deciding

Of course, you can accept and then quit (even before you first day) as long as they don't require you to sign an employment contract.
