What is the essential difference between substantive criminal law and procedural criminal law? ?

Well, the difference is substance vs. procedure.

Substantive law would define the crime. For example, substantive law would define murder as unlawful killing. The rules of criminal procedure dictate what evidence is admissible to prove the charge of murder.

I just finished with a government course at my community college and was reading about criminal law versus civil law and what certain crimes are punishable by. What would be the punishment for stealing documents (like a will) out of someone's home without permission?

Hey Guys,

I'm a 19 year-old, who got caught shoplifting at Zellers in Canada BC. The loss prevention officer took my info, said I was "forever banned from all zellers and its chains like the bay", called the rcmp to talk to me, and said I wasn't going to be charged. I'm reminding that bills for confinements such as this might lead to actual criminal prosecutions, such as for loss of income leading to up to two years Federal Hard ...

I can't figure out what major to choose. I am interested in intellectual property, criminal law, copyright, and civil law. What would be the best major for me? The University of Arkansas only has a pre-law set for Agricultural and Business .

I've looked up Fifth Degree Sexual Conduct and I've found the punishments if someone is found guilty. But I can't find the punishment for juveniles. So does that mean that the punishment is the same for any age? Or is there a lesser punishment ...
