Is it legal to sell tailor made costumes based on existing (Disney/Marvel) characters?

I want to make tailor made costumes/closplay outfits for comic conventions.  I have just been getting my feet wet with my mask reproductions.  My only concern of course is the potential to violate existing trademarks, and to be honest I am not sure of the legalities of doing full blown un licensed costume reproductions.

I have an idea for a sort of invention- is it a patent or trademark ?

What steps can I do to summit my idea...I don't need an attorney to do it right? is it free? what other information can I use? thank you for any info? Also, it is more of something other manufacturers could use on their products, so would that just be a patent or trademark?

How Much Does An Actual Patent Cost? Are there any places to have them filed inexpensively? Copywrite Needed?
I looked up the Patent And Trademark Office. They said.. 1500.00 to 2000.00 to actually patent your product. Is there any cheaper? Also is a copywrite necessary? Or.. Liscense? I would like to sell my product to a angel investor or venture capitolist. I also was told that Richard Brandson invests in helping people promote their inventions ...

Can Godaddy.com steal my songs?

Hi.
My band is looking for a webhost for our webpage, we are thinking about godaddy.com. I was reading the Universal Terms of Service on their page and I'm not getting the intellectual property part:

7. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY.

You agree that Go Daddy or its licensor holds all rights, title and interest in all Software and Services and all intellectual property, including other rights related to intangible property, unless otherwise indicated. You acknowledge that no ...

When was the phrase/idea "intellectual property" invented?

I know that at the beginning of this country (US), copyright (like patents) was very short (14 yrs I think) and both copyrights and patents were considered government grants rather than forms of property.
I don't think it applied to all artistic works, and it required registration like patents do.
I don't think trademarks existed until later.

I read in one place that many of the 1800s anarchists considered it a form of property and ...
